Overview

MLA 8 is a  flexible style that uses the concept of containers within containers. The purpose is to give your reader all the information they need to locate the source.

MLA
MLA stands for the Modern Language Association.  It is the style guide used by most humanities disciplines.

In-Text Citation: 
An in-text citation is the information you put in parentheses after a quote in the body of your essay.  The MLA style includes the author and page number. It looks like this:  (Gladwell 5)

Works Cited
In MLA, the bibliography is called the Works Cited.  It is a list of all the references you cited in your essay.   It should be the last page and should be titled Works Cited.
