G 6-8 Citing Sources in Indivduals and Societies using MLA8: G7 Practice

Cite these 6 sources

Book (together)
1. Use the ISBN (0817250573) for The Ancient World Rome by Pat Levy and Sean Sheehan to create a citation. 
2. Copy the ISBN and then find the ISBN box at the top of Noodletools. 
3. Import the data
4. Check it.  Fix any errors you find. 

Notice: You do not include the city of publication so delete Austin, Texas.

Book (by yourself or with a partner)
Find the ISBN on the back cover (or inside) and type it into ISBN box at the top of Noodletools.  Import the data. Delete the city.  Check the information.  If it won't import the data, you need to put it in yourself.

Britannica Encyclopedia
1. Go to the ASW Database list.  Click on Britannica Intermediate and open in a NEW tab.

Find the article called "Ancient Rome."  Choose the first article.  Notice you can change the reading level with the number tabs.
3. Notice: 
Britannica does the citation for you (look under the checkmark at the top).  Make sure you select MLA. Copy this         
4. In Noodletools, click on +Create new citation. 
5. Click on WEBSITE then click on REFERENCE SOURCE. (All encyclopedias and dictionaries are reference).
6. Find where Noodletools says "Copy and Paste Citation."  Do this.  Check it to make sure it is accurate.

Ancient and Medieval History Encyclopedia
Go to the ASW Library database list. Open Ancient and Medieval History. Find an article called "Pirates in Ancient Rome."  Find the citation at the bottom of the article.  Copy it.  Paste it into Noodletools Cite and Paste Citation.

Check to make sure it is accurate.

Go to the ASW Library database list. Click on ImageQuest.  Put Ancient Rome in the search box.  Select any picture that shows people doing something.  Find the citation.  Copy and paste it into Noodletools. 

A Website (you must enter the data yourself)

1. Go to this website on Romans. It looks good because it is published by the BBC. This is a Website (Web Page).
2. Click on the section "Life in Ancient Rome."
3. Click on the section "Resisting Slavery in Ancient Rome"
4. Now you must be a detective and enter all the information yourself:
     Author
     Date written 
     Name of website
     URL
     Access date (click on today)
5. Check it to make sure it is accurate.

 

Finished?  EXPORT your bibliography/works cited page as a word document. 

Print it and turn it in.

Create a Noodletools LOGIN

1. Open Noodletools
2. Register for a Noodletools account using your ASW email.
      a. Click on LOGIN.  Click on register.  Enter your ASW email
      b. U: warsaw  P:library
      c. For phone number use 1234

3. Create a new project called MLA8 Practice. Choose MLA as your default style.  Choose the junior level.
4. To start creating creating your citation, click on SOURCES then click on +Create a new citation (green button)
5. Follow the instructions in the Cite these 6 sources box
6. Export your Works Cited page.
7. Print it, put your name on it, and turn it in to your teacher.

Last name, First name. Title of Book in Italics. Publisher, Year of publication. [Do not include place of publication anymore]
